Our Story

Keeping their light

Lantern & Paw began with a hard, simple truth: the animals we love do not stay with us long enough. When they go, we are left holding a leash, a favourite toy, a hundred small routines — and a love that suddenly has nowhere to put itself.

We make a place for that love. From a single photograph, our artists render your pet as fine art — a portrait we call an Evermark — in the care of the great traditions: the soft light of the Impressionists, the quiet gravity of the Old Masters, the warm glow of candlelight. Monet’s gardens, Delacroix’s skies, a gentle trot through the surf they loved.

Likeness is everything to us. Before anything else, we hold on to what made them unmistakably themselves — the exact markings, the set of the eyes, the particular tilt of the head you would know anywhere. We paint them in good health and at peace: present, dignified, and near. Never morbid, never sad. As they were in the fullness of their life.

Every Evermark is finished to last — archival fine-art prints, Hahnemühle giclée, gallery canvas, and framed heirlooms made to outlive the grief and keep only the love. And you see the portrait before you ever pay, because this has to be right. There is no card on file and no obligation to preview.

We are a small studio that takes this work seriously, and gently. If you are here because you are saying goodbye — or already have — we are so sorry. It would be an honour to help you keep their light.
